Minister Tells Teachers To Teach 1Malaysia Concept To Students

Miri: Teachers are called to continue educating their students on the need to practise the 1Malaysia concept  in their daily life which is vital in preserving the current racial harmony and unity.

Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui said such and effort was needed to create better awareness among the school students on the importantce of racial unity so that people would be able to enjoy peace and harmony in the state.

"Teachers also must keep abreast with current global education development in order to ensure they are able to create a positive impact on the students.

"In addition to that, they must also give a strong emphasis to the 1Malaysia concept so that student would remain united in every academic or co-curriculum aspect," he said at SMK Baru MIri's Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Excellence Motivation Programe at the School's premises yesterday.

Chin's text of speech was read out by his politikal secretary Datuk Sebastian Ting.

"Students are the nations future humen capital. Thus, the current education development has demanded them not only to acquire knowledge conventionally, but also to master certain skills."

In view of that, he advised student to give equal focus to both academic and co-curriculum achievements.

He said further that all the learning experiences gained through co-curriculum activity could help nurture their leadership talent and develop a high sense of volunteerism in welfare and social services

"Co-curriculum activity is a good training ground for the young generation to be more competitive and teachers them to safeguard the existing unity and racial harmony."

At the same time, he called the parent to give total support to their children and school by giving them a space to develop their talent and potential.

Without support from varios parties, he said it was difficult for a particular school or institution to produce excellent students and also difficult for the government to realize Vision 2020.

Later at the same function, he presented a Minor Rural Projek (MRP) allocation worth RM3000 to school PTA.

Also present were the chairman of school PTA'S Anuar Ahmad and the school's principal Mohamad Shariff Mat Saad.
